What's wrong with being confident?

What's wrong with being confident? Demi Lovato wrote a song about it. And to answer the question, there is NOTHING wrong with being confident.

This whole concept is the reason behind this blog. Too many times, I have met people lacking confidence, and it is something that baffles me. Maybe it's because of how I was raised. Maybe it's something innate. Regardless, it is something that must be addressed. No matter what age you are, your skin color, your body type, or gender, confidence is something that you can attain. I am here to help you find that confidence that is dying to break through, make your days brighter, and make you realize your full potential. I am here to bottle up some of my juju and rub it off on you ;)

How can I possibly think that this blog will relate to so many different types of people? Allow me to explain...

Pre-Teens and Teenagers:
Ever walked the hallways of a middle school or high school? What will you see? Acne, braces, bad hair days, stinky armpits, peach fuzz, awkwardness, crushes, competition, and lots of hormones. LOTS OF HORMONES! Juggling all these things and trying to find yourself are exhausting! It is easy to let all these changes take over and make you feel like the ugliest thing on the planet. So, what happens next? Kids will go into a corner and hide. They will be afraid to speak up when they know the answer to a math question. They will do just about anything to be accepted by the cool crowd. They will break the rules, just to be seen as "cool" and to break apart from the rest of the awkward herd.  Girls will allow boys to look up their skirts, or do other sexual favors just to be liked by the captain of whatever team sport. Do you see where I am going with this? This is why we need to address this while they are young!

Career:
So you graduated high school, somehow didn't flunk out of college, and now you are being thrown into the real world. Congrats! You are now in a competition with ALL the other college graduates and everyone else and their mother. You should have completed perfect internships, have a killer resume, killer interviewing skills, be dressed fresh to death, all while actually knowing how to do whatever it is you are applying for. Ummm, more exhaustion!!!! You got this far in life, why are you going to let self-doubt get in the way of all you are capable of obtaining? Maybe you are well into your career and you feel frustrated? Are you going to let that seep into your personal life? Heck no! I won't let you do that. You are far too amazing to let that happen!

Bullying:
Do I really need to explain why this needs to be spoken about? It breaks my heart when I read an article about another person taking their own life because they endured bullying. Enough is enough! I will dedicate an entire blog entry about this because it merits it. If I can help someone that is the victim of any type of bullying, then you bet your ass I will do that!

Immigration:
Whether you are a Syrian refugee or you came from Latin America, it is extremely difficult for someone to leave their home country and start a new life in a completely foreign country. It is so easy to feel worthless, incapable or downright destroyed. I will also dedicate an entire blog entry about this because it is all over the news lately. Yes, immigration is a hot topic. This is not a political blog, so I will NOT be presenting my opinion on this nor do I care for your opinion on it. The conversation will revolve around address lack of confidence among the immigration community.

I know I have said a lot, so I will wrap this up now. Call it confidence.
Call it self-love, if you will. I cannot stress the importance of being confident of who you are, what you believe, and loving the skin you're in.

Which leads me to my next blog entry: How to be more confident. Enjoy!
